About righttostay.ie

A free tool for understanding your tenant rights in Ireland.

righttostay.ie searches Irish tenancy law and over 22,000 RTB tribunal decisions, then gives you a clear answer about your rights. No sign-up, no cost, no jargon.

You type what’s happening. The tool tells you what the law says, what tribunals have decided in similar situations, and what you can do next.

Where the information comes from

22,408 RTB tribunal decisions — real disputes between tenants and landlords, published by the Residential Tenancies Board. Updated regularly.

Residential Tenancies Acts 2004–2024 — the legislation that governs private rented housing in Ireland, consolidated and current.

Official guidance — published information from the RTB, Threshold, and Citizens Information.

Where possible, answers link to the legislation and guidance they draw on.

How the AI works

When you ask a question, righttostay.ie uses AI to search across legislation, tribunal decisions, and official guidance. It finds what’s relevant and writes an answer in plain language.

The AI doesn’t make up law. It draws on a curated set of Irish tenancy sources. Every answer is clearly marked as AI-generated.

It’s good at explaining what the law says and what tribunals have decided. It’s not a solicitor and it can’t tell you what to do in your specific case — that’s what the “next steps” section of each answer is for, with links to people who can help.

Your privacy

We take four things seriously:

Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Who built this

righttostay.ie is built by What If Now, a small Irish company that builds AI tools to take routine work off busy teams. The same technology we build for our clients powers this free tool.

Why is it free?

The RTB decisions are public. The legislation is public. The guidance is public. The only thing that was missing was a way to search it all in plain language.

That shouldn’t cost money.

A note on what this is

righttostay.ie gives you legal information, not legal advice. The answers are AI-generated based on published sources and may not cover everything relevant to your situation.
